William Bill Edward Lester
November 10, 1970 - December 28, 2012
William Bill Edward Lester, age 42, passed away Friday evening, December 28, 2012, at his home. Bill was a graduate of Johnson High School and was employed by Publix Supermarket on Wilmington Island. Bill was a lifelong member of the Wilmington Island Presbyterian Church.
Bill was predeceased by his father, Lamar A. Lester, Sr. and his grandparents. Bill is survived by his mother, Irene M. Lester; brother, Lamar A. Lester, Jr. Dwan; sister, Laura Lester Simpson Ed; nephews, Lamar A. Lester, III and Michael Hunter Lester; niece, Irene Matthews Simpson Mattie, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was known as and called "Uncle Bull" by Lamar, Hunter, and Mattie.
Bill was a people-person who loved his family and friends deeply and openly. No one remained a stranger for long after meeting Bill. He gladly shared a hug with anyone he knew or met. He was a NASCAR enthusiast with deep loyalty to Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He enjoyed going to races at Charlotte Motor Speedway, The Daytona 500, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Chicago Land Race Track, and Talladega. Bill was one of the first champions selected by the Low Country Downs Syndrome and Related Disorders Society. Bill enjoyed country and rock and roll music and traveled throughout the southeast to see his many favorites, including Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, and Jon Bon Jovi along with many others.
Bill will be deeply missed by all of those whose lives he touched. He was a master at spreading cheer and never let his limitations hold him back. He brought smiles and laughter to many people during his short life.
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wilmington Island Presbyterian Church.
Remembrances may be sent to Wilmington Island Presbyterian Church Remembrance Fund at 450 North Cromwell Road, Savannah, GA 31410.
We sure enjoyed talking with Bill when we would go to check on their Gas Logs that we installed... We also Loved to talk to him about Dale Jr Our Fav & His Mother is a Super Sweet Lady ...He will be missed by all especially Ms Irene ...RIP
